Student Loan Process
Our student loan process isn't much of a "process" at all.
Your college loan could be five easy steps away. First, determine how much you need to borrow: a minimum of $1,500 per year up to the maximum of $40,0001 per year. If you're planning to borrow for more than one academic year, remember the lifetime limit is $130,000.

STEP 2
Download the loan documents from the email you'll receive* or request to receive them by mail.
STEP 3
Your loan is approved.
STEP 4
Your check is prepared.
STEP 5
Your National City Direct Student Loan check is mailed directly to you.
*As soon as you are conditionally approved, you will receive an email with a link to loan documents for you to print, sign and fax to us. Or, if you prefer, we will mail your documents.
The sooner you apply, the sooner you'll have your check!
Applying for a student loan will go much faster if you gather the information you'll need first. It will make approval and receipt of your check go faster, too. In fact, you could receive a check made out to you in as few as five business days by using our online application, downloadable credit agreement and fax-back option.

As an undergraduate, you have a choice of three repayment options: Delay repayment while you're in school, save on fees with interest-only payments while in school, or start making full payments right away to save the most over the life of the loan.
